action-based action, etc… Reference to Sovereign Awards (2024)
Chronology
CIA agent Jo struggles to balance her personal and professional lives as the spearhead of the agency’s war on terror. Real-life military advisors helped create more authentic weapon handling, house cleaning, positioning and command. I was compelled to write a review because the writing, acting and action are so good! I’m a reviewer and movie/show watcher who approaches things from the “glass half full theory” I either like it or I don’t.
Great acting, dialogue, action!
There’s always a middle ground. "Lioness" is not only far from average, it has it all! Zoe Saldana is sexy and beautiful, and like her boss, played by Nicole Kidman, both are shameless women in American espionage and the military. Both are America’s defense against terrorism around the world.
Both were top notch
What’s also helpful for the viewer is that this is a cable TV series (Paramount), it has a big budget for a movie. The production team doesn’t skimp on their budget, it’s streamlined, practical, and executes flawlessly on production values. As I mentioned in the title, it has everything from "24" and "Columbiana"! Remember the TV show and the movie?
It works well for me
I don’t mind family issues and teenage drama. As a parent, I get it. I think the terrorists are going to get to Jo’s (Zoe Saldana) family. (I hope not, but I could see it happening) Obviously, I haven’t finished the series yet.
And I’m not writing this review either
"Lioness" is so good, and I highly recommend it. This is one of the first reviews I’ve done, and I have no problem with the content. My other reviewers on past classics and well done movies/TV shows are obvious. I haven’t checked, but I really want a second season of “Lion”!!!
